Marazul Charters is sponsoring a unique opportunity to visit Cuba as part of a People-to-People social workers’ program to Havana, scheduled for June 13-21, 2015.

Dr. David Strug, Professor Emeritus of Social Work at Yeshiva University who has led several social worker delegations to Cuba and has written about social work on the Island, will be the program leader. This is a special, once-in-a-life time opportunity to learn about social work in Cuba and about the country’s culture, people, and institutions at a turning point in the Cuba-United States relationship. You do not have to be a social worker to participate. Spouses, friends, and colleagues from other fields are also welcome. Participants will visit a variety of programs, including community development, health care, mental health and senior citizen programs, among others. They will also visit community programs for art and music, as well as a beautiful small community and nature reserve two hours outside of Havana.
For academic social workers and for others, the program is an opportunity to establish contacts for future collaboration with the Island’s social work community at this historic moment in American-Cuban relations.
The estimated cost for 9 days and 8 nights is approximately $2,597 in double occupancy and $2,959 in single occupancy. We will be staying at the iconic, beautiful and centrally located Hotel Nacional. The cost of the trip includes RT air Miami/Havana; hotel accommodation for eight nights, breakfast daily, welcome and farewell dinners, a bilingual guide, daily bus transportation and all program activities. Final cost may vary depending on number of participants enrolled. A non-refundable $200 per person deposit is due no later than two months prior to departure via credit card, certified check or money order. Final payment is due no later than one month prior to departure. This cost will be in addition to the cost of a domestic flight to Miami or to some other city of departure for Havana.
Space for this program is limited and there is an application process. Please contact Marazul Charters (kguild@marazul.com or 1 800 223-5334, ext. 19) as soon as possible if you want to participate and please copy David Strug (strug@yu.edu) on correspondence with Marazul.
