The Creative Capital and Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program

Like talking about art?

The Arts Writers Grant Program supports individual writers whose work addresses contemporary visual art through project-based grants, ranging from 3,000 to 50,000 USD, issued directly to individual authors in the following categories: Article, Blog, Book, New and Alternative Media, and Short-Form Writing.

The first program of its type, it was founded in recognition of both the financially precarious situation of arts writers and their indispensable contribution to a vital artistic culture. The Arts Writers Grant Program aims to support the broad spectrum of writing on contemporary visual art, from general-audience criticism to academic scholarship.

Designed to encourage and reward writing about contemporary art that is rigorous, passionate, eloquent, and precise, as well as to create a broader audience for arts writing, the Arts Writers Grant Program aims to strengthen the field as a whole and to ensure that critical writing remains a valued mode of engaging the visual arts.
